Crittall Screens

Product Details

We supply and install both internal and external Steel screens throughout the NW UK and Isle Of Man. Internally they are a great option for separating spaces whilst maintaining light flow and adding a feeling of open-plan space. Enhanced acoustic properties make the screens a perfect solution for separating living spaces such as dining rooms, kitchens, home offices and more.

Available with both single and thin double glazing, the double glazing option is krypton-filled to achieve a thinner look compared with traditional double glazing whilst maintaining the same glazing U value. Steel screens are also available in a fire-rated version which means they can be installed in areas where it was previously not possible to create glass partitioning.

If you are looking for a Steel screen for your next project a visit to our Heswall showroom is a must as we now have a large screen on display, showcasing multiple options available within the steel screen system.

Why choose a Crittall Door or Screen

Crittall screens, with their slender steel structures and expansive glass panes, are a preferred choice for door applications because they combine both design appeal and operational functionality.

For External Doors

Durability: Crittall screens utilise high-quality steel materials to create doors that resist weathering effects while withstanding harsh weather conditions and extreme temperatures. The manufacturing process involves hot-dip galvanising combined with powder coating, protecting against corrosion while enhancing durability.

Security: The strong steel construction provides superior security compared to other door fabricates, serving as a practical barrier to prevent intruders. Modern Crittall doors feature advanced locking systems, providing enhanced security protection.

Aesthetic Appeal: The minimalist design of Crittall screens features thin steel frames combined with large glass panes, producing an industrial-chic appearance suitable for both modern and traditional architectural designs. These doors permit maximum natural light to connect interior and exterior areas.

Thermal Efficiency: Modern Crittall screens incorporate innovative glazing solutions and special heritage double-glazing, along with thermal breaks in their steel frames, to enhance external building energy efficiency.

Customisation: The manufacturing process enables Crittall doors to be customised in terms of dimensions and appearance through various finish options, including different colours and metallic surfaces to match different architectural designs.

Low Maintenance: Powder-coated steel material requires less maintenance than wooden doors, as it does not require periodic staining or painting for outdoor protection.

For Internal Doors

Light and Space Enhancement: The large glass panels of Crittall screens allow light to pass through rooms, creating a brighter and more spacious appearance while maintaining an open feel. Their design enables the creation of open spaces in confined homes or apartments by overcoming physical barriers.

Versatility in Design: The combination of their narrow dimensions with grid-like patterns creates an industrial look that matches contemporary lofts, as well as classic and modern interior designs. The doors function as decorative elements or create gentle room divisions between areas, such as living spaces, kitchens, and home offices.

Sound Insulation: Quality glazing installed in Crittall internal doors provides acceptable soundproofing features, making them suitable for home offices and bedrooms where privacy is essential.

Space-Saving Options: The sliding and folding door configurations of Crittall screens provide excellent solutions for spaces where swing doors would consume too much area.

Durability for High-Traffic Areas: Internal Crittall doors, constructed from sturdy steel materials, can withstand regular use in active residential or commercial environments due to their resistance to warping and deterioration.

Customisation and Flexibility: The customisation options for internal Crittall doors include selecting between frosted and clear glass panes and multiple frame finishes to match interior design elements.

Crittall screens have maintained their timeless appeal since their classic design emerged in the early 20th century and continues to be fashionable in modern times. The recyclability of steel, combined with the extended lifespan of Crittall screens, makes them an environmentally friendly choice, as they reduce the need for repeated door replacements. The system can be applied to single doors, French doors, or full partitions, offering flexible configurations.
