In the heart of the charming town of Buxton, our clients have passionately transformed their property over the past 15 years, emphasizing the preservation of its original period features. Originally built in 1896, their home has undergone meticulous renovations, with a recent focus on the downstairs kitchen area.
The latest project involved the removal of an old window and an external wall to accommodate a single-storey extension. Through strategic internal re-configuration and the relocation of an existing wooden door, a new indoor WC, a cosy snug, and a spacious open-plan kitchen-diner were created.
The bespoke snug, featuring period-inspired shelving and panelling, showcases the original wood flooring. John Knight Glass played a pivotal role in the project by installing striking internal black Crittall Steel doors to the snug entrance. This addition not only provides privacy and warmth but also enhances the aesthetic with a seamless blend of wooden panelling and dark steel, allowing natural light to flow throughout the space.
The Crittall doors lead into a captivating dining area and a well-appointed kitchen-diner, boasting a new wooden kitchen with granite work surfaces. A floor-to-ceiling Crittall Screen in the dining space and black Crittall Steel doors in the kitchen area further maximize daylight flow, offering views of the awaiting garden redesign.
The selection of Crittall Steel doors from the John Knight Glass Showroom was driven by the clients' admiration for the bespoke handmade quality and style. The doors have not only added a visual appeal but have also contributed to improved warmth in the kitchen-diner, seamlessly integrating into the home.
With the project now complete, our clients revel in the transformation of their kitchen and snug. What was once a dark corner has become a cozy retreat post-dinner, with the warmth of the fire and picturesque views through the Crittall doors onto the garden. The owners express their overwhelming satisfaction, stating that they love their new extension even more than expected. Discover the joy of three sets of Crittall doors when two are simply not enough!
