A single-storey flat roof extension designed by Artform Architects has been brought to life with a unique and modern glazing scheme, including a slim eaves window, corner sliding door set, and a further flat roof-light.
For the Eaves window, we used elements from our structural glazing range, a slim frame, and a glass-bonded intersection to create a window with a barely visible frame. The glass almost transitions to the plasterwork, with only a small frame section visible for possible future maintenance. Not only does an eaves window create an abundance of light, it also acts as a key design element; the missing corner section where walls would traditionally transition to the roof is an element that is rarely seen and is almost always going to be a talking point amongst guests.
In the main living area of the extension, there is a large set of corner sliding doors, where both leaves slide back to reveal a completely open corner. From our slimline range, the sliding doors feature a mostly hidden frame and an ultra-slim 20mm mullion. Our slimline door range enables maximum light flow while creating a point of visual interest with the floating corner.
To further enhance light flow, we have supplied and installed a flat roof light at the centre of the main living area, flooding the space with natural light. The finished result is a perfect enhancement to this family home, creating a contemporary, open, light-filled, and modern space at the rear of this Victorian property.
