A picturesque traditional sandstone cottage was in need of a complete new scheme of double glazed windows and doors, our clients wanted to recreate the original character look of timber whilst reducing the amount of maintenance required and improving the overall efficiency of the home.
Deciding on a timber alternative (upvc designed to look like traditional timber) windows and doors to achieve the look of timber (a must in this conservation area) whilst giving all the benefits of UPVC our clients choose the Evolution storm windows in a coloured finish to contrast with the white render and give the look and feel of a painted timber window.
The glazing bar configuration and colour was chosen to closely replicate the original windows. With butt joins, a deep cill and correctly proportioned frame we believe the Evolution storm window is the best replica timber window on the market.
At the front of the house we installed a black English Door Company entrance door with sand blasted glass and cream frame which again has a construction to closely match the look of timber. To the rear of the house we installed a stable door matching in colour to the windows. The windows installed within the sandstone building are a different colour to the rendered area of the house complimenting the different materials perfectly.
The installation of timber alternative windows and doors in a traditional sandstone cottage represents a harmonious blend of classic charm and modern functionality. These replacements not only preserve the cottage's historic aesthetic but also enhance its energy efficiency and durability for years to come. By opting for timber alternative materials, homeowners can enjoy the timeless beauty of wood without the maintenance concerns, ensuring a seamless integration of tradition and innovation. As the windows and doors stand as the portals to this cherished space, their installation symbolizes a commitment to preserving heritage while embracing sustainable solutions for the future.
