Aluminium Entrance Door Manchester

After owning an existing office building within an old Cotton Mill in the heart of one of Manchester's most trendy areas, our clients had decided to convert their existing space into a modern apartment.

One of the challenges of the project was making the basement a usable and welcoming space. The existing rooms where dark and lacked natural light due to them only having a very small window in each room. Having looked around on many popular inspiration websites our clients liked the idea of creating a light-well from the ground floor and adding glass partitions to each of the bedrooms to allow the light to flow.

The use of Crittall glass screens was the perfect choice, the steel Crittall screens are accredited fire doors and so can be used in place of a wall whilst still complying with building regulations. The sleek black frame gives a nod to the industrial heritage of the original cotton mill and tie in well with the cast iron columns running through the building.

The architectural aesthetic created by the use of the black steel screens gives the home an edgy feel which is a perfect fit for this city centre location and is something the homeowners wanted to continue throughout the rest of the building. Having a staircase manufactured locally in a similar design to the glass screens as well as adding a further Crittall partition to the main floor of the apartment really brings it all together and creates a consistent feel throughout the building which feels intentional.

We also supplied an aluminium entrance door in bronze with a grey frame which has greatly enhanced the security of the apartment and also transformed the look of the front of the building tying in perfectly with the grey windows and giving an clue to the unique and beautifully presented interior that lies within.

The result is a bright open space that is perfect for modern city living with an open plan main floor enabling dining, cooking and relaxing all within the same space and a basement that is divided up into individual light filled rooms thanks to the use of Crittall screens.
