After purchasing this imposing semi-detached property in North Wales, the owners wanted to renovate the rear of the property to make use of an unused courtyard space. Their vision was to build a large open plan family space for cooking, dining and relaxing together, filled with plenty of natural light and offering expansive views over their garden.
Originally considering bi-fold doors, our client was not satisfied with the local UPVC products on offer and wanted something special to complete their brand new living space. After visiting our showroom on the Wirral, they decided to choose an aluminium dual sliding door due to the size of the opening, which was almost 6 meters wide. A bi-fold door this large would need to be manufactured from 6 panels, creating lots of vertical sight-lines when looking out onto the garden, preventing them from achieving expansive views to the outdoors. An aluminium sliding door was the perfect choice due to the strength of aluminium, which allows us to easily fill a 6 meter opening with just two panels, creating an almost uninterrupted view of the garden with only 1 vertical sight-line in the centre of the doors. Not only does this frame their garden perfectly, but it adds a real wow factor to their space.
As well as supplying the sliding doors we also supplied a flat rooflight to help bring plenty of light into their new living space. Flat rooflights are idea for adding in extra natural light on flat roof extensions where standard rooflights cannot be installed. They offer a striking alternative to roof lanterns and in this property, helped them to achieve this unobtrusive external aesthetic.
