With stunning views of the Criccieth Beach from this elevated building plot in Criccieth the homeowners instantly fell in love with this building plot and decided the build their forever home in this stunning location. Working with their architect they wanted to build a low energy home that would be quick to build and be extremely energy efficient.

The architect choose to build the main fabric of the building our of a revolutionary building material ICF which has been gaining in popularity over the past few years. Insulated Concrete Forms which are used to fabricate the external walls of the building are large lightweight insulated hollow building blocks which can be easily clicked together and filled with concrete to form energy efficient structural external walls.

As part of the overall green approach to this home many factors have been considered to ensure the home achieved the lowest energy rating possible including low energy lighting, solar panels, heat recovery ventilation system, smart heating system and of course the windows.

The homeowners knew right away that they wanted to go with Rationel alu-clad windows as they felt they fit well with the overall aim of the project and they offered a good value, high quality products that are extremely energy efficient. All windows and doors supplied have been fitted with 44mm triple glazing units for added efficiency achieving a centre pane U value of 0.6 . The frame of the Rationel windows is manufactured from an engineered timber which is a well insulating material comparted to aluminium and UPVC windows.

This home fits a requirement of many homes being build today, the main fabric and design of the building has be designed to consider the environment by keeping the energy requirements to a minimum. Reducing Heat loss to prevent the need for natural gas heating and generating its own electrical energy to reduce the need from main grid supplied electricity. On top of helping to reduce the demands on our energy system this home also reduces the bills associated with running a home giving a great return on the investment of building a new home.
