Sash Windows Wales

With views over the Menai Straights and beyond the homeowners of this stunning Georgian home are currently part way through its renovation to return it back to its former glory both internally and externally.

The first areas of the home to be fully renovated in the dual storey extension to the side of the home. At the front of the extension was 4 original timber sash windows and at the rear of the property was two large bay windows. All of the windows in this extension had started to rot and had become draughty.

At the front of the property we replaced the timber sash windows with like for like replacements from the Bygone range. These are almost identical in proportions to the originals however there is one key difference, they are manufactured from a unique PVC profile which looks identical to painted timber however doesn’t have the drawbacks such as regular maintenance required by timber. Internally these windows have many authentic details such as the sash keep and window hardware.

To the rear of the property the homeowners have removed the original large bay windows and have opened the whole area up with a new wall and small roof increasing the footprint of the original internal rooms. At the same time they have opened up the original opening to be full height and installed two sets of steel alternative doors in a custom RAL colour. Not only do these doors bring in more light, they also added another entrance into the building something which the homeowners find very useful, particularly when bringing in shopping into the kitchen!

Internally the doors are finished in white with matching hardware which works perfectly with the décor of the building and adds to the light and bright feeling of the space. We love this space and feel that the windows and doors help add to the many character details that make this building so special, it is great to see homeowner’s investing in quality products which we feel add so much charm and character to these period homes.
