Located in a sought-after village in Cheshire, the owners fell in love with this stunning property despite being in need of a major overhaul and set about creating the ultimate dream family home. With a comprehensive plan in mind, they decided to not only fully renovate the original building, but to also extend the main building, creating a home that works for modern day living while retaining its original period charm.
With so much character to the various building it was clear that standard UPVC windows would not be the right fit for this project. After visiting our showroom, the homeowners opted for Alu-clad timber Rationel windows and doors throughout, with the exception of two sets of aluminium bifold doors to the rear. The windows provide a softness both internally and externally thanks to the flush casements, matt powder coated finish and timber internal fabricate, perfect for this setting. The decision to go for different coloured windows on the different buildings helps to further distinguish the characters of each building and works perfectly with the various materials, adding interest and depth to the project. The choice to go with aluminium frames for the bi-folding doors was particularly appropriate as the strength of the aluminium is the perfect solution for this type of large door.
The Rationel windows are from the Forma range, chosen because of its traditional styled glazing bead which suits the house perfectly. The majority of the windows are finished in a light grey RAL7035 and the windows on the smaller sandstone building are finished in the popular anthracite grey RAL7016. The French doors on the sandstone building are also Rationel Forma doors and are finished in matching RAL7016. The choice of colours works extremely well in complementing a property with such a wonderful combination of materials and finishes.
