Leaded Windows Cheshire | John Knight Glass

Leaded Windows, Cheshire

As part of a full house re development project including a large double story extension as well as a single story extension running the length of the building, our clients have completely reconfigured this property to create the perfect family home.

This property has plenty of original character which has been maintaned across the new additions to the property. One of the key features of this properties character is the leaded windows.

We worked closely with the homeowner to design a new window that reflects the character of the original window whilst enhancing the performance of the home. Original features such as the roofing tile cills, leaded glass design and slim profiles have been mainted with the design and installation of the new windows.

We have replaced all of the windows throughout the home including the original building and the new additions creating a seamless look, helping to tie both the original and new elements of the building together. The consistent window design throughout the home also really help to add character to both the original and newly constructed parts of the home.

The windows used in this project where from our very own Knight Collection using our Original range which is an aluminium window with a very slim profile which is often used as a replacement for steel windows on heritage properties. Due to the slim profile achievable the windows look very close in style to steel windows giving them a period look. This combined with the hard wearing nature of aluminium and the enhance U value of modern glazing technology such as gas filled double glazing and thermal break gives an ideal solution to maintaining the look of period windows whilst maintaining a low U value and adding to the overall energy efficiency of the home.
